Mt. Whitfield Conservation Park - Summit Walk
|
|
Near the gardens at the "Tanks" is
the start of the 'Summit Walk'. Last time we were here we could only
complete the first section as the Cassowaries were in mating season, and
these big birds get a bit aggressive at this important time. It was getting a bit late and was threatening rain, so we raced off hoping it would keep dry and we would not run out of time. It started out a nice paved path, running along a creek bed, but it slowly started to climb and soon became a steep track. I saw the Echidna way ahead on the track, not taking to make notice of us walking up. They usually dig-in at the first sign of people. It was smaller than ones we see in Victoria, but so much blacker. We photographed it and moved on. |
