We had found the orchids in bud; too early, we needed to come back again. They looked right and we hoped they weren't Melagrammus.

Three weeks later we're back and they were as we had hoped - chlorogrammus in full bloom.

These orchids are distinctive as they have a  green striped labellum and larger green and white striped flowers.

We have since found these orchids in the far west of Victoria and now having more experience with my new camera, an extra page of photos has been added for you to see.

Details (Vic):

Flowering:  Flowering July - September, mainly July to August.

Size: Flower stem to 45cm,  flower - 1- 7, to 18mm long. 

Location: Found in the south west of Victoria and the Gippsland area.  Grows in heathy woodlands and open forests on well drained sandy loams.

Endemic, Vulnerable.
