Cryptostylis subulata - Large Tongue Orchid

These have prominent
leaves (green both sides generally) and a very easily recognized flower
stalk. They stand up and say hi as you go by! very easily found if
they are in the area. This to me seems an upside-down flower as shown below. Photographed at Baluk Willam Flora Reserve. |

Details (Vic): Flowering: Flowering November to April, mainly December to February Size: Up to 80cm tall, flowers - 5 to 20 to 30mm long. Position: Widespread, mainly contained to the southern areas and the Grampians. Prefers wet heathlands, but can extent into drier open forests and heathy woodlands; soils are water retentive.
