These orchids are big, bright and easy to see- they really do stand out in the forest.  So we were driving around this way then that, trying to find one - we saw many roseum's but no Purple.  We took a wrong turn and found ourselves at a dead end, we turned around and Mischa saw a flash - perhaps just another roseum?  We stopped anyway and took a closer look - it was behind a barb wire fence - but it was obvious this was not a roseum but our quarry - the purple hyacinth!

It was only when we had finished did we note the "Beware of Dog" sign!

Photographed in the Gippsland area.
