Dipodium variegatum Blotched Hyacinth Orchid

Back

On a return trip to Sydney, we took the long coast road to specifically look for these orchids in and around Mallacoota.  Why?  because our book said they were here and we trusted the book (somewhat!). Rosy's were everywhere we found as we rushed from one to another.  So on the return leg of a coastal walk we saw yet another, but not quite the same, the red quite blotched and more intense, less Rosy!  Yes this was it, we were happy campers again!

We were in the area a month later with friends and while most orchids had gone, we were able to find just 1 lot more. Again happy campers!

Photographed in the Croajingolong National Park, near Mallacoota.
