Last year this location had a number of orchids present, however this year numbers are down (as for most orchids) for the same time and we were lucky to find one out.

Details (Vic):

Flowering:  Flowering October to December, mainly November.

Size: Up to 35cm tall,  flowers -  usually 1to 8, to 20mm across.

Location: Central and Western Victoria in Box Ironbark forests, dry woodlands and Mallee country.

Endemic, Rare.

 

The flowering plant usually does not have a rosette as it have withered by the time the flower is in full bloom.  Rosettes are noted some 3 months prior.    

The Diameter of the coin is approx. 25mm (1 inch)
