Petalochilus carnea - Pink Fingers

I think this was the
first wild orchid I ever saw. It was pointed out some 15 years ago
while on a clean-up day of the Long Forest National Park. It seemed
so small for a flower let alone an orchid! I took a close-up photo and was
hooked! These orchids, although small, jump-out at you as you walk along the forest path. However you need to check them out as there's a few look a likes! The old motto, take a photo just in case always applies. |

Details (Vic): Flowering: Flowering August - January, mainly September to October. Size: Up to 25cm tall, flowers - usually 1to 5, to 30mm across. White to deep pink in colour. Position: Widespread: Found in Woodlands, open forests and closed forests. Endemic, Secure. Previously: Caladenia carnea |
