|With all the fires we have had in
the years 2005 and 2006 the Pyrochis have been flowering in abundance.
It can only get better in 2007!
Photographed in the Grampians NP, Mallacoota area, Brisbane Ranges NP and also the Anglesea area.
Flowering: August to November, mainly September to October
Size: Up to 25cm tall, flower -2 to 10 to 40mm across.
Position: Widespread across southern Victoria. Favours heathlands, open mallee scrublands, heathy woodlands and open forests, generally on well drained sandy or sandy loams.
