Numerous flowers were found in Spring after a small fire was controlled the previous Summer; this being typical for this orchid.

Details (Vic):

Flowering:  August to November, mainly September to October

Size: Up to 25cm tall,  flower -2 to 10 to 40mm across.

Position:  Widespread across southern Victoria. Favours heathlands, open mallee scrublands, heathy woodlands and open forests, generally on well drained sandy or sandy loams.

Endemic

Status:  Secure

Formerly:  Lyperanthus nigricans.
