Gardening

Our block is 0.4 acres, that's around 2 normal housing blocks  where we live, so our gardening is not to strenuous but its large enough to keep us busy.  We started with a pre-owned home, with 7 saplings, we now have planted some 100 plus trees, lots of shrubs and many more ground covers, flowers and the like.

Some photo's are below:

Mischa, putting down the path, this has made this area so much better as we now can walk thru' and see everything ---Garden2.jpg (33631 bytes)

This was take in early summer, using a 300 mm tele lensGreystriketrush2.JPG (66881 bytes) When we started the garden we tried to plant   a number of shrubs & trees that attract our native birds.  We now have daily visits by Red Wattle, White napped Honey Eaters, New Holland Honey Eaters, Rosella's,Magpies, Ravens (looking for prey) and the Grey Strike Thrush pictured left.

Other not so common birds are Mistletoe, Red Rumped Parrot, Galah and even a Ibis has flown in.

Travel

This is new to us (the kids have just grown-up and now are somewhat independent) and we still have not got out of the country, but we do have our passports ready for the day we find a place better than Australia to visit. I like the idea of the Grand Canyon, New York  (canyons of a different sort) and the U.K. (castles, green hills & History).

We have visited All states except Western Australia.  Some  day soon we must go as our daughter lives over there in Kalgoorlie, a major outback mining town in W A.

Look at our Holiday Photo's I've included some of the best for your please.

Horse riding

We have just started to be adventurous and began Horse riding, we do it when we go "on holidays", our favourite spot is the Coach House in the Grampians, Western Victoria, a lovely place to be.

The guy who runs it is  Cameron McDonald, he's very patient and good at looking after you, he even supplies your boots, hats and wet weather gear plus a lovely coffee or tea at the end of the ride.

Try him he's good!         Phone:  1800 647 794

Or look at his  WWW Site at:-      http://www.grampiansgrelcorun.com/rates.htm

Here is a picture of the family just starting out :-

Walking

Our holidays are based around walking , that's why we end up at so many National Parks.  Victoria and Tasmania are the best places for walking with 2 of our favourite places being the Grampians in Victoria   and  Cradle Mountain in Tasmania.
