Central Australia:
Aryes Rock - A gaint Monolith, photo taken at dawn AYRES ROCK

This is the famous Ayres Rock in the Northern Territory of Australia, the worlds largest monolith.

We climbed this when we visited, it was NOT easy to do, in places the face is VERY steep.

This is a sunrise photo.

DOwn, Down Down it goes, man its steep!.

The kids did this walk years ago on school trips, but we just got here!  I knew it was a steep climb and there was a chain to help you pull yourself up, but its hard yakka!

Going down will be fun if they are all still coming up, perhaps next time a long walk around the base will be OK.

At the top of the rock, or so we thought.  There's still a long way to go to the cairn.

Someone said there is a Pepsi Machine up there for the old guys to get a drink at, that's what I told so young ones on the way through.

The Olga's are in the background. Note the "lush" country-side, Typical Outback stuff.

Loverly view, warm, but slow windy here. Nothing like down at ground zero.

Top Top is not so simple as we thought!

The Rock looked very smooth from the ground, but its really bumpy.  You need to pick the right path or it gets steep again.
Finally made to the VERY TOP.  Its sure is windy here and not so warm as it was at the base.  We found home and set off back again, thanks to the people "ants"  the track is easy to find!

Holding on tight! Now where is home from here. We took our turn here, everyone has to have this photo!

Kings Canyon, A Must see.

KINGS CANYON

Near-by KINGS CANYON is a beautiful spot, only some 400 kms from the Rock!.  Its a MUST SEE Place.

With a Bus trip we had to rush around this one, but we will come back.

On the rim its like a moonscape, the trees etc are down in the valley.

Yes there's water down there, OK for a swim its hot!

Hidden Valley

Central Australia is  a rough old place, desolate and dry.  We climbed a high point to photograph this picture, that's us at the bottom.

Lookout, on the way to Hidden Valley. Its seems this is the only way to get myself in a photo!

Hideen Valley Palms, this is a tropical paradise in the desert.

This picture was taken in the "Hidden Valley", a place time forgot! Why! Well its in the desert and there are 50 foot palm trees growing and plenty of water around, a real oasis in an area of nothingness.
