AYRES ROCK This is the famous Ayres Rock in the Northern Territory of Australia, the worlds largest monolith. We climbed this when we visited, it was NOT easy to do, in places the face is VERY steep. This is a sunrise photo.

The kids did this walk years ago on school trips, but we just
got here! I knew it was a steep climb and there was a chain to help you pull
yourself up, but its hard yakka! Going down will be fun if they are all still coming up, perhaps next time a long walk around the base will be OK. |
| At the top of the rock, or so we thought. There's still
a long way to go to the cairn. Someone said there is a Pepsi Machine up there for the old guys to get a drink at, that's what I told so young ones on the way through. The Olga's are in the background. Note the "lush" country-side, Typical Outback stuff. |

|
The Rock looked very smooth from the ground, but its really bumpy. You need to pick the right path or it gets steep again. |
| Finally made to the VERY TOP. Its sure is windy here and not so warm as it was at the base. We found home and set off back again, thanks to the people "ants" the track is easy to find! |

KINGS
CANYON Near-by KINGS CANYON is a beautiful spot, only some 400 kms from the Rock!. Its a MUST SEE Place. With a Bus trip we had to rush around this one, but we will come back. |
| On the rim its like a moonscape, the trees etc are down in the valley. |
|
| Hidden
Valley Central Australia is a rough old place, desolate and dry. We climbed a high point to photograph this picture, that's us at the bottom. |
|
|
This picture was taken in the "Hidden Valley", a place time forgot! Why! Well its in the desert and there are 50 foot palm trees growing and plenty of water around, a real oasis in an area of nothingness. |
