| There is/was a large sphagnum bog at the
north-west end of Rocky Plains tucked around the corner from the main part
of the plains. I estimate the area of this bog to have been around 8
hectares. Photo 1 shows part of this bog. The lighter coloured area in the centre is where the sphagnum has been substantially removed/destroyed. The lighter colour being the colour of the replacement vegetation. The darker areas around it are the remaining edges of the sphagnum bog. A small stream, typical of the channelisation described elsewhere can just be discerned in the centre foreground of the lighter area. |

| The “Mid Bog” photos 2-8 show damage within
the lighter area of destroyed sphagnum bog, including remnant clumps of
sphagnum. |

| Photo 9 shows a largely intact edge of the
sphagnum and the following “Edge Bog” photos show damage beginning to
occur to the intact edges of the bog. |

| The last 2 photos show nearby damage to a
shiny round leafed plant. That is the threatened Alpine Marsh Wort -
Nymphhodies montana. |
