Duckhole Lake Walk |
After a great tour of the Hastings Cave we saw that this 'great walk' was only a stone's throw away. The usual road was not accessible due to roadworks and we took the long way around, which was actually a great little drive through the hills. We had lunch in the small car park before heading off on the walk. The sign at the start stated that there was no walk around the lake when you get there, which was different to what we had read. The walk was quite flat, running next to a creek for quite a while. The walk was quite scenic with tall trees and ferns. When we arrived at the lake we tried to see if signs of an old walk around the lake existed and unfortunately none could be found. We returned to the walk track to check out the lake views. Initially we looked for some seats or viewpoints but there was none and you had to seek views out. Soon enough we noticed a thick timber slab which doubled as a seat. We stayed a while longer to enjoy the ambience of the place as no one else was around. Walking out was almost as good as walking in as the sights seemed different from the opposite direction. |
