Russell Falls - Horseshoe Falls
Circuit Walk

Back

The Mount Field National Park is an iconic destination in Tasmania.  The park has many wonderful walks, both short and multi-day events, plus some great waterfalls.  I feel the Russell and Horseshoe falls are the best in the area.  We camped overnight which allowed us to wander up along the Russell Falls track to see the glow worms after dark.  Then in the morning before the tourist rush we went for our falls walk.  The bush is lovely and the initial track is quite flat to Russell Falls.  The Horseshoe Falls are above Russell Falls so there is a reasonable climb, made that much easier by the well maintained paths and stairways.  Lots of ferns, birds, animals and even orchids can be seen as you walk along.  Platypus can be seen as well, but, we missed out.
