Tall Trees Walk
Mt Field NP

Back

Staying at Mt Field is great idea as it allows you more time to do the short walks in area.  The Tall Trees Walk is one of these, at  only 1 km and taking 30 minutes plus some photo taking time to complete.  It is an easy walk on a well formed track in a rain forest environment, lots of tree ferns and of course tall trees.  The tall trees are the swamp gum, Eucalyptus regnans, which is the tallest flowering plant in the world.  The tallest in this area is 79 metres.  There are many signs along the walk detailing all sorts of information about the forest.  To our delight we also found some orchids.
