| Ironbark Track - Werribee Gorge |
|
Notes: This is a short but strenuous walk to a lookout over the Werribee Gorge. Most people who go here are rock climbers as they are allowed to climb the sheer cliffs in the lookout area. It's starts with a rapid descent to the valley floor, which requires you to have sure footing as it is a very gravelly and loose surface. Half way down is the remains of an old hut - it's not an area where I'd choose to live, but then I was never into gold prospecting. From the valley floor rises up to the lookout via a good ridgeline. The path is often a rough track with some smooth walking areas in between. However the lookout provides some interesting views of the gorge, the distant Freeway. A short walk. RA Approved! |
